Our department recently purchased Taser Electronic Control Devices (ECD), to be used by O'Neill Police Department Officers. All Officer's were required to complete an six (6) hour training course before carrying or utilizing the ECD'S. The training course was instructed by our resident ECD Training Officer, Sergeant Matthew Otte. The 6 hour course required officers carrying the ECD'S to pass a written exam and a practical application course. During the course officers training to carry the ECD were exposed to a five (5) second application of the ECD, giving officers first hand knowledge of the ECD'S performance in a field setting. The implementation of the ECD is a progressive step by our department to insure the City of O'Neill continues to be a safe community for everyone. |
